“Gas meters must be cutting-edge products that measure fluids with the greatest accuracy. Therefore, manufacturers must make continuous research efforts to manufacture and distribute precise products so that consumers can trust them.”

Kim Jong-in, CEO of Daemyung IT Co., Ltd., which participated in the production of household gas meters following the localization of industrial gas meters, said that he decided to enter the household market because he believed that he could provide better service to customers by producing and supplying all specifications.

CEO Kim said that the company has built facilities capable of producing three types of gas meters, including G1.6, 2.5, and 4, and that it can produce 25,000 to 30,000 units per month based on 8 hours. He said that since the existing industrial gas meter sales force is also in charge of household gas meters, he believes that there will be a synergy effect.

“I think the domestic market for gas meters is somewhat limited. We believe that we are lacking in the types of products that we can develop into overseas markets for industrial use only, so we plan to increase our brand awareness in overseas markets by participating in exhibitions and adding household use.”

The gas meter production line recently installed at Daemyung IT has a deep connection with CEO Kim. This is because the equipment he encountered every day while working in the gas meter division at Kumho Electric, his first job after graduating from college, passed through several companies and came to Daemyung IT, which he directly manages, after about 17 years. It is the realization of his dream of a household gas meter that he has been attached to for 30 years.

He is well aware that the competition in the household gas meter market is fierce. He said, “The biggest problem with household gas meters is that they are not getting the right price. There are many reasons for this, but I think that now both manufacturers and consumers need to emphasize quality in their marketing. Of course, we will also try to reduce costs to ensure sufficient price competitiveness in order to meet the market order.”

Starting out as an industrial gas meter importer in January 2000, CEO Kim Jong-in has now transformed into a leading domestic manufacturer of industrial gas meters. He has already produced and exported membrane-type G10, 16, 25, 40 and turbine-type G65, 100, 160, 250 meters overseas. He has established a plan to develop membrane-type G6 and turbine G400 by the end of this year and to produce rotary meters by next year, and is carrying them out one by one. It can be said that CEO Kim’s localization of industrial gas meters has contributed to the stabilization of supply and prices.

“There were some acquaintances who discouraged domestic production, but we can’t rely on imports forever. I am proud that I made the bold investment decision and have come this far. Of course, there is still a long way to go, but if we work hard, we will definitely see good results.”

CEO Kim Jong-in's ultimate goal is to grow into a comprehensive gas meter manufacturer, establish the Daemyung IT brand in the world, and contribute to the development of national industry.

CEO Kim believes that the role of the affiliated research institute is important in becoming a global brand and plans to take the lead in developing various parts and improving quality by expanding investment in the research institute.

“Manufacturers do their best to produce products, and national testing agencies use cutting-edge testing equipment to conduct tests, so there are absolutely no problems with quality. If you trust domestic products and expand their use, their competitiveness in overseas markets will also increase. We will do our best to produce household and industrial gas meters.”
